Approved WA State License Testing

All knowledge and skills test must be scheduled in advance by calling our office.

Wake’s Driving School is an “Approved Testing Site” for the Department of Licensing.

 

 Approved WA State Knowledge Test: $40 per attempt (cash or card is accepted, checks are NOT accepted)

The knowledge test is an automated test through the Department of Licensing website! Create an account for this test (or use your already existing account!) https://secure.dol.wa.gov/home/
Please show up 20-30 minutes early for check in WITH your license express username and password. Please login into your account BEFORE your appointment to ensure you have FULLY set up your account. Note: The first screen you access after setting up the account IS NOT FULLY LOGGED IN. It will require you to enter additional information to FULLY SET UP YOUR ACCOUNT.

  • You can use any device to take it! (Phone, tablet, computer, etc.) The school can also provide a device for you to use upon request. 
  • You can bring your own headphones for the test! Headphones are only needed if you wish to use the read-aloud function on the exam. 
  • You must bring a photo ID! School ID, WA ID, WA permit, passport, etc. Note: if your ID does not have a WDL number on it, you will also need to bring your WDL number. You can get that at the DOL or the license express website. https://secure.dol.wa.gov/home

Drive tests are by appointment only. Call us today to set up your test!

Drive tests are approximately 1/2 hour in length.

The drive test and knowledge test can be taken before your 16th birthday!

If you are using your own vehicle for the WA State Approved DOL Drive Test please check the following on your vehicle:

  • Valid insurance card
  • Current registration
  • All signals/lights properly working
  • Functioning emergency brake
  • Seat belts working
  • License plates on front and back of vehicle with current tabs on back plate
  • No chips or cracks on windshield in line of vision
  • Tires must meet state requirements for tread, no bald tires
  • Windshield and defroster system working properly
